Sound thinking

At the beginning of every new writing project, before I even start the serious plotting, I create a playlist of music that, for me, feels like the project. It must be at least eight hours long, and it is not necessarily the kind of music I would listen to with friends or to relax. It has one purpose: to get me into the mood to start writing straight away. As the project develops, the soundtrack becomes intrinsically linked, so even when I'm feeling a bit off the boil on a writing day, I can get back in the mood as soon as I sit down. Some people like silence, others enjoy the hubbub of a café. For me, the same soundtrack, day after day creates the right bubble for me to work. #spotify #music #inspiration #writingtips #productivity
